Times Now Summit – India Action Plan 2020 | A Vision for New India
INTRODUCTION
Times Network, India’s leading broadcast network, has been championing India’s digital transformation agenda with Digital India Summit, initiated first in Year 2014. In 2020, we continue this mission by taking into cognizance the new reality of the world jolted by the global disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. With the core theme of "Enabling The New Normal" DIS 2020 aimed to take thought-leadership in enabling conversations & discourse in the search for digitally empowered solutions for present-day and future challenges.
Technology has proved a useful and necessary tool to ensure that local and regional governments on the frontline of the emergency continue to provide essential public services during the COVID-19 crisis. Integrated digital solutions enabled coordinated containment and mitigation processes—including surveillance, testing, contact tracing, and quarantine enforcement—for instance the Aarogya Setu app launched by GOI. Essential services were predominantly enabled by digital platforms, like essential food supplies being provided to the population through ecommerce platforms. Large and small businesses that moved to a Work From Home model were the ones least impacted from the disruption caused by the lockdown.
It is clear, Covid-19 has only reemphasized the importance of building a robust digital ecosystem to support the nation’s growth & prosperity with resilience built into the fabric of society to protect from future disruptions. Digital transformation is no longer optional, but the imperative in the post Covid-19 future.
To drive this mission, DIS 2020 went electronic with a 6-week TV and Digital spread of multiple insightful sessions, including fireside chats with leading govt. heads & thought-leaders & panel discussions among tech leaders at the forefront of India’s digital transformation. The playout was featured on Times Network's leading TV news channels & hosted on the network’s digital news hub, timenownews.com.
